Disney’s problems are getting worse.
One scandal they thought was buried just came roaring back.
Because this top Disney franchise star just ripped “collection of lunatics” over treatment of one actress they really shouldn’t have abused.
Comedian and star of Disney’s The Mandalorian, Star Wars franchise spin off Bill Burr may be a liberal from Boston, but he can’t stand the current trend of wokeness.
It’s put a damper on comedy and the entertainment world more broadly.
And in a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, Burr opened up about how a “small collection of lunatics” canceled out MMA fighter turned actress Gina Carano.
Carano was a co-star on Disney’s The Mandalorian, but she was fired from the show for essentially expressing support for Donald Trump and speaking out against draconian COVID policies.
Burr, who moonlights from his comedy career with supporting roles in television shows like The Mandalorian, felt a pang of sadness when the interviewer mentioned the show.
Burr said dejectedly, “That makes me think of Gina. How cool she was as a person…”
The interviewer then asked if it was fair that Carano was booted from the show, and Burr responded, “No… I thought it was funny that the liberals proved her point. They just use outrage because they don’t like your politics. As someone who considers himself liberal, it’s disappointing to see the left become how the right used to be when they went after the Dixie Chicks after they criticized George W. Bush. There’s not a lot of people like that — most are just trying not to get in trouble — but there’s this small collection of lunatics — either on the right or the left, at any given moment – that cause hysteria. And now there’s so many [media outlets] that want eyeballs, they make money off advertising, that they give attention to these crazy fringe people.”
Fortunately for Carano, soon after her termination, she struck a deal with The Daily Wire to produce and star in a film.
The western Terror on the Prairie is set to come out this year as The Daily Wire continues to build out its entertainment wing.
This is how people on the Right need to fight the culture war.
The time for complaining about the Left is over.
Conservatives are building parallel institutions so people are not at the mercy of the Left’s political whims.
Burr is one of the few anti-woke comedians who has stuck to his guns, and he’s been able to escape cancellation.
More honest liberals should follow in his footsteps and speak the truth.
