Openly mocking Christian presidential candidates is the Left’s stock and trade.
But their hatred of Trump has caused them to develop a weird obsession with an Episcopalian, openly-gay mayor from Indiana.
And after receiving a righteous smackdown from President Trump, this candidate’s campaign is over and you won’t believe where he’s turning next.
Many on the Left think Pete Buttigieg will save them from President Trump winning a second term.
Buttigieg is an openly gay Episcopalian, and a cohort of leftists, especially in the media, think that will help them break through to non-traditional voting groups and capture the White House.
But believing Buttigieg will make it to the Democrat Party’s nomination is far-fetched.
President Trump cut Buttigieg hard at a recent event, saying the 37 year-old Democrat would be “great representing us against President Xi of China. That’ll be great.”
And Buttigieg virtually guaranteed his campaign is going nowhere when the young mayor responded.
Shedding his appeal to the Christian faith, Buttigieg turned instead to Eastern spirituality and took a weak swipe at Trump’s border wall.
Trump sarcastically predicted Buttigieg has “got a great chance” in the crowded 2020 field.
“He’ll be great,” the president said with a laugh. “He’ll be great representing us against President Xi of China. That’ll be great.”
Buttigieg reacted to the statement by waxing philosophical.
“You can’t get too worried about the name calling and the games he plays,” the mayor said. “I was thinking of a Chinese proverb that goes, ‘When the wind changes, some people build walls and some people build windmills.’”
Left-wing media elites’ weird fascination with Democrat presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg could be over.
As CWN has reported, Buttigieg said early in his campaign that he believes Scripture leads “us in a very progressive direction.”
Now the young, gay mayor appears to have abandoned his attempts to appeal to voters with his gay and “progressive Christian” image.
Of course, Christians know what the Scripture tells us, so the radical left-leaning progressive’s ploy wouldn’t have worked anyway.
And while it seems he realizes that Left-wing voters are much more apt to like a young, gay mayor who promotes “eastern spirituality” and open borders, that does little to set him apart from any of the other Democrat candidates running against Trump in 2020.
What do you think?
Do you think Mayor Pete Buttigieg even has a shot at facing Donald Trump in a 2020 General Election?
