The View has some major problems.
But it’s not just how the show’s unhinged harpies are driving away viewers.
And The View’s Sunny Hostin just let slip something truly shocking about the program’s plan for Conservatives.
The harpies at The View are looking for fresh meat.
The leftist harpies who host The View keep chasing off voices that aren’t 100 percent onboard with the Left’s agenda.
Most recently it was Meghan McCain who said the workplace was incredibly toxic.
Now The View is struggling to find a new host to fill the role of token Conservative to balance out the panel.
Supposedly the main hosts have grown tired of the revolving door of Republican guest hosts, and they want a permanent replacement for Meghan McCain.
Co-host Sunny Hostin told New York Magazine, “Right now, we still do need a really Conservative voice…And we need someone that’s not duplicative of anyone else on the panel.”
But the show is having a hard time finding a Republican who can thread the needle between not being an obnoxious Never-Trumper or a Trump apologist.
Sources close to the show said that the search has stalled as executives struggle to find a Conservative cast-member who checks all the right boxes. They will not consider a Republican who is a denier of the 2020 election results, embraced the January 6 riots, or is seen as flirting too heavily with fringe conspiracy theories or the MAGA wing of the GOP. But at the same time, the host must have credibility with mainstream Republicans, many of whom still support Donald Trump.
“The problem is that they bring people on under the mantle that this woman is a Conservative, when they’re ‘Never Trump,’ so they don’t represent the country,” said one of the rotating guest hosts.
McCain fit the bill for the show because of her family’s blood feud with Trump, but her willingness to push back against her loony liberal co-hosts.
But McCain said she was bullied by her co-hosts, which is another reason why the show is having a hard time finding a replacement.
The women of The View allegedly left former co-host Rosie O’Donnell in tears on a regular basis, the show has a reputation for being a viper’s pit.
“At the same time, the anti-Trump Conservative can’t be seen as too chummy with the other co-hosts, as the network’s market-research shows that the audience wants to see the women spar. Sources said that this has hurt the chances of Ana Navarro, a regular fill-in on the Conservative chair who worked as a surrogate for Joe Biden in 2020: She is perceived by the producers as too friendly with the other hosts and not a traditional Republican.”
Even The View recognizes that Ana Navarro is worthless.
There are plenty of female Conservatives who can call balls and strikes without being an insufferable Never-Trumper like Navarro or Nicolle Wallace, but the bigger issue could be finding somebody who can handle the surly co-hosts.
“It doesn’t help that there’s a perception that whoever sits in the Conservative host slot is on borrowed time, with prominent Republican former co-hosts like Nicolle Wallace, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Abby Huntsman and McCain leaving the show with claims of being bullied by their co-hosts and ABC executives on-set and off, while veterans like Goldberg and Behar have thrived.”
Whoever the show picks, it will continue to be a train wreck.
