Pope Francis has had a very controversial tenure in his role as pontiff.
He’s made several moves that have confused devotees around the globe.
And Pope Francis just met with one priest that shocked Catholics.
Pope Francis is the first pope from the Jesuit order, a Liberal-hijacked order within the Catholic Church.
A believer in liberation theology — a strain of Christian thought with Marxist roots — Pope Francis aligns with the Left on matters of economic redistribution, immigration, and so-called “global warming.”
Conversely, Pope John Paul II was instrumental in defeating communism and tearing down the Iron Curtain.
Despite liberals’ general antipathy toward religion, they’ve developed a soft spot for Pope Francis because he doesn’t shy away from attacking President Trump.
And now, Pope Francis is moving the church to the left on homosexuality, as evidenced by his meeting with controversial Jesuit priest Father James Martin.
Life Site News reports:
Fr. Martin has been criticized by high-ranking churchmen and respected Catholic lay academics for dissenting from Catholic sexual teaching. Cardinal Robert Sarah, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, has called Fr. Martin “one of the most outspoken critics of the church’s message with regard to sexuality.” Cardinal Raymond Burke has called the celebrity priest’s teaching “not coherent with the Church’s teaching on homosexuality.”
Earlier this month, Archbishop Chaput of Philadelphia released a statement noting that Fr. Martin’s “statements and activities” have caused confusion.
“A pattern of ambiguity in his teachings tends to undermine his stated aims, alienating people from the very support they need for authentic human flourishing,” Chaput wrote. “Due to the confusion caused by his statements and activities regarding same-sex related (LGBT) issues, I find it necessary to emphasize that Father Martin does not speak with authority on behalf of the Church, and to caution the faithful about some of his claims.”
Father Martin has become well-known for his support of LGBT issues.
And many Catholics have called him out for duping followers to believe that wrongful behavior is not sinful.
Pope Francis meeting with Father Martin is another signal that he seems more attuned with the Left on many issues than the established traditions of Christendom.
