Pat Benatar just dropped the hammer

Politics are quickly devouring culture.

Film, television, and music have all been infused with left-wing messaging.

But Pat Benatar just dropped a hammer no one saw coming.

Famous musician Pat Benatar retired her biggest hit for an unbelievable reason.

It’s not entirely uncommon for musicians to “retire” songs.

They might get sick of performing their biggest hits, and sometimes they don’t even like a particular song and even resent its runaway success.

But rock vocalist Pat Benatar just dropped the hammer and revealed that she will no longer sing “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” because of gun violence.

During a recent interview with USA Today, Benatar explained, “[W]e’re not doing ‘Hit Me With Your Best Shot’ and fans are having a heart attack and I’m like, I’m sorry, in deference to the victims of the families of these mass shootings, I’m not singing it. I tell them, if you want to hear the song, go home and listen to it. (The title) is tongue-in-cheek, but you have to draw the line. I can’t say those words out loud with a smile on my face, I just can’t. I’m not going to go on stage and soapbox – I go to my legislators – but that’s my small contribution to protesting. I’m not going to sing it. Tough.”

This is completely absurd.

Nobody confuses gun violence with a benign pop song from 1980.

Democrats have renewed their hyperactive demands for gun bans and confiscation following the horrific acts of mentally ill individuals in Buffalo, Uvalde, and Highland Park.

But instead of focusing on the conditions that create mass shooters such as societal breakdown and the loss of community among other issues, leftists want more feckless gun laws and empty gestures like retiring pop songs.

Sadly, they’re getting encouraged by RINOs in Congress who helped pass taxpayer funding for so-called “Red Flag” gun confiscation laws just weeks ago.

Now Democrats are demanding more and a new ban on semi-automatic firearms is making its way through Congress.

Benatar also made an unintended confession during her interview about the lies of feminism that continue to this day.

She said, “I grew up in a really female-heavy household. So my experience was that there was no difference between men and women. When I got into the world, nothing was more shocking to me than to see that wasn’t exactly true. People were patting you on the head but they didn’t mean it; they were lying. It was infuriating.”

That is a truly fascinating statement that could be grounds for “cancellation” in another context.

The leftist idea that men and women are exactly the same has been corrosive for society.

And the logical conclusion of that bad idea is the radical transgender movement that argues men can become women and vice versa.

Now biological men are competing in women’s sports, and feminists have splintered over the issue.

Women who are not on board are smeared as TERFs, trans-exclusionary radical feminists.

Harry Potter author JK Rowling has become a pariah for her refusal to bow to the radical transgender mob.

With such cultural decay, sadly it’s not surprising society is producing more and more mentally ill people who want to act out in violence.
