As 2020 comes to a close, there is a lot of talk about all the bad things that happened in this last year.
Many are happy to say “See ya” to the year and move quickly into 2021.
And, while 2020 may have seemed like a year chock full of bad, there are still people out there, like financial expert Dave Ramsey who are showing others the love of Jesus through extraordinary acts of kindness.
Dave Ramsey is well known for his work helping get people out of debt and on the road to financial security.
He is also a devout Christian, who doesn’t just talk the talk, he walks the walk.
Recently for example, Ramsey’s company bought medical and auto debt totaling $10 million from two private debt collection companies and completely forgave it.
Ramsey Solutions team members got to make the calls and give the good news to the individuals whose debts had been forgiven.
Ramsey always reminds his team that they are “blessed for one reason, and that reason is so we can be a blessing to others.”
There was no catch. They didn’t have to start living on a budget or cut up credit cards, and they weren’t pitched any of Ramsey Solutions’ products.
By the time the team members made the calls, the debts had been paid off, and there was nothing for the recipients to do but tell their families the good news.
Why would he do such a thing, you ask?
Ramsey says, “Well, the answer is simple – to show the love of Jesus Christ. You see, this whole completely forgiving a debt thing has been done before – by him. No other gift could compare to that one, but we felt this was one small way we could continue to pass on that love.”
It is no secret that 2020 has been rough on everyone. While most of us cannot pay off $10 million in debts for others, acts like this should show us all the importance of loving others and spreading the Good News.
In the midst of a worldwide pandemic, tyrannical government lockdowns, and racial strife in the United States, it is refreshing to see such a public figure trying to spread the message of Jesus’ love and His ultimate sacrifice for our sins.
